QuestionWhat is root rot and how do I know my plant has it? I have a 6 yr old Hawaiian Schefflera has done very good but lately I have noticed that there are some brown spots ON the leaves and stems ... I can easily wipe them off but they come back ... what is it?
AnswerHi Paula, it sounds like a fungus, but without actually seeing it I can't be sure; root rot is when the roots system sits in water, unbeknownst to you and eventually rots from the sogginess. You will know when you pull the roots and they just come apart.Nick
