QuestionI have this plant in mid georgea and I would like to see how to winterize it. I hope that can be done. It is flowering now but do I need to cut it back when it starts to get colder?
AnswerJack, I think your climate zone is too cold to winter out without some drastic protection; Pruning it back when the nights start dipping into 40's, then mulching it heavily should prevent the ground under it freezing, (no guarantees however), the Allamanda doesn't go dormant, so its going to try to continue growing, herein lies the problem; second alternative is to prune it way back and pot it up as an indoor plant until spring; it may get leggy and stressed, but it should make it until spring where you can put it out again to flourish.
