QuestionI also bought a Bougenvillea plant. Is there simpler name for the plant? I have been calling it Gracie for the time being. Most of all the plant is very root bound, when would be a good time to transplant into a large planter? Is there special soil that I will need? How is the best way to train the plant to growing upright or is it to late? The branches are about 6 inches to 2 feet in length.
Thanks for your help

I will have to cut off the old plastic pot off. (found in the dumpster almost dead)
AnswerMost people call them Bougs...prune it back and cut away the old pot, then break up the roots so they are free, and repot with drainage medium at the bottom (about 2 inches) then use a light potting soil. Bougs don't like a lot of water, so don't overdo it with the watering. I need to know where you are located to answer the time question, if you are in a temperate area zone 8-10, then anytime is fine, but if you are lower zoned, then do it now before the cold sets in, and be sure to move it in, so it doesn't freeze.
