QuestionI have just transplanted several large Seagrape bushes.
Some of them now look like they are in shock...leaves are falling off. Is there anything I should do to help them recover? Lots of water...or not?
AnswerJackie, typical response to transplanting, its called transplant shock and you need to give them time to acclimate; the leaves that fall off are not of concern, you want to eventually seed new growth begin. Water after initial planting, then only when it dries out, otherwise you may rot the roots; keep the base around the roots mulched so they stay evenly moist, then just wait and watch. Periodically scrape the stem to make sure the cambium layer is still showing green. Nick
