repotting a bouganvillia

Question
Should I pot up my bouganvillis?

I have a small bouganvillia glabrea (two feet high, grown like a standard, in an 8 inch pot).  It has just flowered well for it's second year since I bought it. But I don't know how long it has been in that potting compost.  I haven't fed it in the 2 years, just watered it sparingly.  Should I give it a bigger pot and new compost?  What sort of compost?  Not rich. I'd guess!

It's leaves are small and mainly new and a good bright green.  And it survuves though the UK winter in a conservatory.

Answer
I would repot it definitely, but do not add compost! Bougs color out better if stressed; if you compost it you will be giving it too much nitrogen and that will encourage greenery instead of the colorful bracts you want. The fact that you are watering it sparingly is great! that is the proper way to treat a Boug, little water and half strength fertilizing (low nitrogen content). Nick
