QuestionI will be going out of town for 7 days. These are the potted trees we have in the backyard:3 banana plants that are trying to survive, 1 Mexican Lime,1 navel and 1 washington orange. Will it be enough for me to water them thoroughly the day I leave? We have a sprinkler system that is set to water twice a day. Except for the Washington orange that is in a half barrel, I can move the others so that they are in the line of the sprinklers. The temperatures here can be as high as 108. What else can I do?
AnswerJo, can you move all of them together in as shady an area as possible for the week? and hopefully in range of your sprinkler system? also you might try mulching them heavily to keep the root systems cool; mulch works wonders in slowing down transpiration, and this will be your major concern while you are gone.
