QuestionHi i bought 2 healthy bangalow palms 1 mth ago and one isnt looking too happy now. Many of the branches have gone browny-green, and are curling up. The ones that look green still have small dry areas also.
The plant is inside. i live in Melbourne, Australia so its cold outside at the moment (about 2-14C).
where could i send photos to show you if this would help?
thanks a lot. Lisa
AnswerHi Lisa, King palms are not really a suitable indoor palm, and they don't respond well to disturbance of their roots; they prefer a shadier environment when young and are not tolerant at all of cold temperatures. I'm afraid you are attempting to overcome some difficult stumbling blocks here, they will tolerate a container while young, but tend to decline as time passes....the symptoms you are describing are stress signs, the browning fronds is probably from root stress; a better choice for inside growing would be a Majesty Palm (somewhat similar in appearance).
