QuestionHello, I think that my new banana plant has white flies, and also some sort of green bug inside the leaves.
I did not use potting soil, I used top soil. I water it every other day with 8 oz of plain water, we live in Mesa, AZ. I really need a lot of advice on this plant. It does not look good at all. The new leaves are green, then develop small holes and then turn brown and die.

AnswerKathy, get it out of that soil first of all, thats where the infestation originated; cut the leaves back and wash the corm (root) with a solution of water and soap (to remove any remaining larvae) repot in a "sterilized" potting medium and you should be all set. I don't know (without seeing) what kind of insect it is, but I do know that the infestation stemmed from the soil....Nick
