QuestionHello my name is Henry and i have just bought a drawf banana plant that's a couple of months old. I have been keeping it in a lot of sun and watering three times a week, misting twice a day. I want to have bananas so i have been keeping outdoors but would having a greenhouse for the winter help more with the chances of getting bananas.
thank you so much for the help

AnswerHenry, bananas need 10-11months of frost free growth and copious hydration (misting and watering) along with monthly fertilizing (granular and soluble with a high phosphorus content) to produce fruit; you will definitely need that greenhouse if you are lower then a zone 9 climate zone. your watering and misting schedule is perfect, keep it up! but remember the old adage "its almost impossible to over feed a banana plant" this is so true, the better the nutrition the better the fruit production. Bananas will produce about 30-35 leaves before the flowering pod breaks, so count them and good luck...Nick
