QuestionRecently, my grandma gave me some type of 37-year-old palm tree. It's about 6 1/2 feet tall and is potted in a very large pot. well, about a month ago, we were redoing our walls in our living room and put the plant outside overnight. The next morning the leaves were all discolored and the tops of the stalks were drooping over, (I'm guessing it got too cold) but my question is is there anything i can do to perk the plant up, or is it already too late? (It's about in the same shape it was a month ago when it happened)
AnswerBrandi, I need more information, how cold was it when you put it outside, and how long was it outside; it may have just shocked from the temperature change, or it could have died from it; it will be a month before you may see any change if in fact it is still alive. I'm inclined to think that if it wasn't freezing outside, it may come back,, however if it did freeze it is probably dead and time will tell. All you can do right now is watch it and see if any new growth begins, but do not water it, or you will kill it for sure; without seeing it, it is very difficult to give a prognosis, but there is nothing you can do at this point but hope it regenerates...good luck and I'll keep my fingers crossed..Nick
