QuestionI bought a kentia (maybe paradise?) palm from home depot six months ago. It is about six feet tall with fifteen or so plants in one container. It had been obviously trimmed when I bought it (leaves sheared) and I (a novice) thought nothing of it. Well, the tips of the fronds are turning brown and dying and the bases of all the shoots have speckled brown spots that cannot be removed. It has also begun to turn yellow (very pale) at the bases and I've tried Neem oil, sunlight, no sunlight, weekly watering. I have no idea what's wrong or what to do. Any advice? I don't see any movement from bugs.
Thanks so much!
Allie
AnswerAllie,
You know it is a great mystery to me as well. I have had many of these plants and they all do the same to me as well. Yes I do have trouble with plants from time to time as well. lol
It needs dappled sun. Under a tree in the warm months is always a good thing. Make sure and check it daily for moisture. Feed it with a high nitrogen fertlizer for a bit and see if it helps.
Happy Growing
