Re-potted African Violet - Not Looking Well

Question
I had two potted African violets that turned into three.  So I thought it was time to separate the two that were together as well as get all three into larger pots. I got them for my wife for Valentine's day several years ago and they were doing great. We re-potted them today and watered them well. My wife watered them and got the leaves wet, so we sat them on the front porch to dry.  That was about 10 hours ago.  Now all the leaves on all three plants are completely wilted.  Have we killed them, or will they perk up after getting accustomed to their new soil (African Violet potting soil)?

Answer
Jerry,
First of all, I have never had any luck with dividing violets, as you described.  I know it is a common practice, but I personally have never had a violet survive more than a few weeks after doing it.  I have to wonder where you live; that is, what zone.  My thought is that the weather was too warm for the violet to be left outside and particularly for the water to evaporate off the leaves.  Violets are very temperamental when it comes to the heat and humidity, so that is why I don't leave mine outside at all.  They are particularly sensitive to sunlight and heat together, so I'm hoping you didn't place them in sunlight.  The combination of heat with the water on the leaves could potentially "cook" them.  They are very tricky to raise, but as you have learned, they will do very well if that perfect balance is found.  I hate to disappoint, but it sounds to me that leaving them outside may have done some damage.  I hope not.
GOod luck
