Water damage-- should I prune?

Question

AV in question
Hi Patricia!  When I first got my African Violet, I admit I did not do very much research into the care, and as a result have been watering with cold water and not being very careful about whether of not droplets get on the leaves.  There are several that are now a lovely mix of yellow/white and green as a result.  Should I prune these leaves?  Or, with a switch to warmer water and greater care where the leaves are concerned, will these leaves revive themselves?  There is a new growth of small green leaves at the center of the plant; the affected leaves are the larger ones on the edge.

Answer
Kathy,
I like the way you describe the appearance of the leaves, a lovely mix of yellow, white and green!
No, you do not have to prune. The water temperature will not harm the leaves, only discolor them as you have seen.

On second thought, as I look at your photo it appears that you may have a variegated violet, which this may be normal for the leaves to be colored. They are quite attractive. Usually variegated plants show it in the flowers, but go ahead and switch to lukewarm water, never cold, and see what happens. They still look very healthy.
