leaf problem African Violets

Question
QUESTION: My African Violets are usually fine, now I have smallish brown patches on 2 plants on the leaves not particularly at the edges.   These brown patches gradually thin and turn into holes.  I have looked for insects with a magnifying glass and cannot see anything.  It is flowering well.  I am afraid it will spread to my other plants.  I have looked at the pics on other sites, and have not found anything remotely similar.   I wondered if you could help.  Whether you can or not I would like to thank-you for all your hard work.

ANSWER: Sandy,
First of all, THANK YOU for the nice words! I appreciate it when folks recognize that we are volunteers, yet we just want to lend a helping hand FREE of charge.

Sandy, for your violets the first thing that comes to my mind is cold water spots. When a violet is watered with COLD water it causes these spots which are harmless. However, it could be something else. If you have examined the plant for insects and have found none, and you don't use cold water in them, then it could be a fungus. Fungal infections do spread among other plants, but we have to make sure that is what it is first. If you could possibly send me a photo of one it may help.

If not, then let me give you the website of the African Violet Society of America.
It is www.avsa.org. They take questions, have encyclopedic information, everything!  Of course, if you can send me a photo you can do that and also go to the avsa site.

If I don't hear back from you, I hope you get the assistance you need.

QUESTION: I haven't got the facilities or ability to photograph my plants, but when I have I will send you one.   In the meantime thank-you for your very helpful advice.   Sincere thanks.  Sandy

Answer
Sandy,
I will go with my original suggestion to you, that you consider them water spots. However, be sure to watch the spots and your leaves for any changes. It is possible that it could be a fungal infection or an insect. Don't hesitate to contact the avsa.org. They are my go-to guys!
Good luck.
