QuestionI've had one AV for at least 30 years, the other one for about 15.
Until very recently they have both been very healthy. Suddenly the
leaves started to wilt looking like a watering problem. I repoted
both (in same pots) thinking the soil was spent. I've continued to
water them the same way I always have, but the leaves/plant have not responded. Am I going to lose my old friends?
AnswerWith your plants being as old as they are, it sounds to me as if it could be a fungal infection or even a parasite, and both could be brought on by over-watering. Do you think it's possible they could have been over watered in the last few months? That's all that comes to my mind, because old and established violets like your's which have been well cared for just don't shrivel up that quickly unless they are affected by an organism.
Because I am concerned about your plants I'm giving you the web address for the African Violet Society of America. They can help you, diagnose problems, answer questions all FREE. I use them often. Go to www.avsa.org.
With them, I think you'll be in good hands. If I can help you more let me know.
