QuestionHi,
I live in New England and I just bought an African Violet plant. Can I plant it outside?
Thank you,
Donna
AnswerDonna,
I really do not suggest that you plant your violet outside in New England. African Violets need extremely warm, humid environments to thrive. Even in the south, where I live, I never plant them outside. They cannot tolerate direct sun, either, as it causes the leaves to burn. These kinds of plants must be kept indoors, near a bright window, and kept moist. They must be checked for water every day. If given all the right "ingredients" african violets will bloom several times a year. This includes fertilizer year-round.
