Question
I fertilize my plants about every two weeks and when I water them from the top the water when it drains to the bottom of the pot tends to be brownish and has an odor.  What am I doing wrong?

It is quite normal for the drained water to be discolored, even brownish, but the part that worries me is the 'odor' you mention.  Can you please offer me a little more information?  Such as, how old are your plants?  What type of fertilizer do you use?  How much light?  Do you water from the top every time?  Do you ever water from the saucer?  Any other detail you can think of may assist me.  I look forward to your reply.
