QuestionI have lillies in my garden that have finished flowering and in between the leaves small black pods have appeared with what appears to be small shoots sprouting from them, are these the seeds for this plant? some of my other lillie species do not have these pods! if they are the seeds then how do i prepare them for re planting and when do i do this??
AnswerThe little bulbils are not seeds. You can plant them any time. Simply sprinkle them on the ground where you want them to grow and cover lightly with soil. Water with soluble, all-purpose fertilizer. The small plants do not compete well with weeds so you will need to keep the area weeded. It will most likely take three years before you will see flowers.
