QuestionI was given a potted hydrangea a week ago with beautiful pink flowers on. I am unsure where to put it. I live in England and the weather has become quite frosty. I did put the pot outside for a night and two of the flower heads are starting to shrivel. What should I do? Thanks.
AnswerKeep the plant in a bright, cool location with no direct sun. Whenever the pot begins to feel light but before the leaves begin to droop, set it in a bowl of water for a few minutes. Plant out once there is no risk of frost. A bright, shady location with acid soil and good drainage is best. Amend the soil with peat moss and use a fertilizer meant for rhododendrons and azaleas.
