QuestionI have a bank next to our yard and it is very large. I seeded wildflower seed last fall. I have chickweed I think (blooming with purple flowers) all over the bank. Is there anything safe I can purchase to kill this crazy chickweed without harming the seeds. The seeds have not germinated yet. I live in northeast kansas. Will I have to start over again by spraying all the weeds and then reseading? Please help.
AnswerCommon names of plants vary regionally. What I know as chickweed has white flowers, is a shallow-rooted annual and is very easy to pull up so there is no reason to resort to chemicals. I do not know what you have that would bloom this early in the year. Could you perhaps take a plant to your local Cooperative Extension office for identification?
