Questionhi again..
I was wondering if you know of any hearty native plants or wilflowers. The area i am using is in front of a school and the soil is somewhat dry and there is plenty of sunlight. I am doing tests on the soil quality but for now i need to know what kinds of native plants can use this soil that can survive new york weather.
thank you
AnswerPrairie wildflowers would grow in this situation. Many of them are also native to New York. I'm pretty sure there is a web site if you do a search with those two words. The list would include Rudbeckias, Echinaceas, Heliopsis, Helianthus, Liatris, Solidago, Vernonia and Sedum (coneflowers, ox-eye, perennial sunflowers, gayfeather, goldenrod, ironweed and orpine), and if you can provide more moisture, add Inula, Silphium and Eupatorium (elecampane, cup plant and Joe-pye-weed).
These plants should give you a good start.
