comet fish and bullfrogs

Question
Hi,
We have a small backyard water pond with many comets; so many new ones we need to give some away! I have a friend who has a backyard water pond and I would like to give some to her but she is concerned because they have bullfrogs. Can the comets and bullfrogs coexist? What is the best way to transfer the comets if we are able to do so?
Thank you,
Ellen

Answer
Hello Ellen!
Bullfrogs will eat just about anything, including Goldfish if nothing better is available.
They do, however, prefer insects. Whether or not they will eat the Goldfish also depends on their size as well as the size of the Goldfish.
Transferring Goldfish can be accomplished by filling a suitably large, clean container 1/2 full of water from the source pond. Put Goldfish in it (keep in mind that they will run out of oxygen quickly, the entire thing has to be accomplished in minutes). Carry container with Goldfish to new pond. Fill the remaining space in the bucket with water from the new pond. Wait a couple of minutes for the water to mix and the temperature to stabilize. Introduce Goldfish to new pond.
I would recommend doing a couple of Goldfish at a time, unless they are very small.
Best regards
Brigitte
