koi fish health

I have been losing koi continously over the past 4years and always seems to be when the spring comes I lose the majority I have other images if you would give me your email address would send them on to you
this fish looked as if it had internal bleeding was very red under the skin on most of its body and blisters that looked like was full of blood.
my pond size is 13,000 gallons 16 fish in there koi goldfish and grass koi a mechanical filter with 12,000 litre an hr pump also an aeration pump plus 1000 gall water plant filter location sun with partial shade summer temp 18deg celc winter 1-6 deg celc depth of pond is approx 6ft down to 5ft 18m squared, could you tell me if it would be beneficial to add salt to the pond in early spring and early autumn an if so could you tell me how much as I have no idea and how much in pounds or kilogramms to 13,000 gallons as I have no idea how to make 0.05% solution I hope that you can be a help to me. waiting to hear from you Dolores

Sorry to hear you are losing koi.
After the winter koi are weak and in that case also open to bacteria, diseases etc.
The redness is mostly from stress however from A distance it is hard to tell which is the case.
We normally monitor the koi with following list:
1) waterquality (PH, GH, KH? ammonia, nitrite,...)
2) check if it is only one koi or more
3) visual signs
4) scrapes with microscope to check parasites.
So it is hard to tell which is the case of death.
Best way is to take the koi when its still alive to the dealer to check or call A vetrenarian.
When you want to use salt,some people are pro some not, this mostly is from 0.1 to 0.3% salt.
This means you need to measure the pond.
for 1 liter you need to add: 0.1 to 0.3% salt
I think 13000 gallons = 49210 Liter
Than, if this is the case you can add:
So 0.1 / 100liter = 49.2kg

However personally I would advice first to test the water and ask A local expert to ensure the best treatment in this case.
