QuestionOur pond is 21 by 17 feet and five feet deep. About a month ago it turned really green and the fish stopped eating. All the test results were okay, though. When the fish started dying we decided we had to do something drastic and drained the pond. Some of the fish were given away and the rest were put in a small bog. Since we live in the country with a limited water supply we just used rain water. There are 6 - 12" Koi in it now. When we drained the pond they had cloudy eye that is clearing up. All the tests are still okay after adding salt and baking soda but the water is now black and the fish are still not eating much.Sorry this is so long. Can you help? Thanks, Boots
AnswerHey Boots I don't know if I can help but I will give it a try. My sisters pond turns black and the only thing I can figure is it is not getting enough sun. It has to get at least 6 hours of sun a day. You might try a filter with barley or putting alot of plants in it. You may be getting some bad rain water or run off. My water is always green and my fish eat all the time.Usually cloudy eyes is water temp to cold for to long. Koi are not as hardy as goldfish. Hope this helps Eric
