QuestionHi, I have heard about this, but today noticed one of the frogs in my pond is clinging to the nose of one of my Koi, the fish doesn't seem stressed but at same time has tried to shake frog off, I tried prodding the frog, but won't leave the fish. Should I be concerned? Any ideas on removing the frog please. Many thanks.....
AnswerHello Simon!
This seems to happen every once in a while during spawning season when the male frog might get very confused in the mating frenzy and mistakes a fish for a female frog (go figure).
It can, in extreme cases, be a danger to the fish if the frog pushes the gill plates shut for example.
There is, in general, not much you can do but hope that the fish dives and stays down. The frog eventually has to come up for air.
