AnswerHey Danny, a couple of things come to mind. They have to feel safe, they lay eggs on plants and roots, you have to have male and female of course, you didn't say how many fish you have. Rule of thumb is the female goldfish are usually larger. Its a thing that just happens. All of a sudden you see something microscopic and the more you look the more you see. Had 22 babies one year. The only problem is again rule of thumb 3 to 5 gallons per fish. No more or they will start dyeing. If you have 4 fish they could all be male or female. It will happen. Thanks I hope I shed some light on it. Thanks Eric
