Question
I just purchased a new home which came with a pond in the backyard. It's beautiful: waterfall, rocks, plants, and even Koi. The problem? I have no idea how to maintain it nor did the previous owners!  The water is dark and there is a lot of "sludge" on the bottom. Ideas on how to get started?

It is going to take a bit of work to get that pond going again and I would have to write a bit of a novel here to deal with it all.
