QuestionI have a 42" round formed pond in which there are 5 gold fish and a fairly large copper fountain. The fish seem pretty healthy and growing but I constantly have to clean the filter (every other day) and the algae and smell are always present. Could the copper fountain be causing this?
AnswerGeri: its probably the sunlight that is causing the algae growth and the smells... The fluctuations in temperatures speeds up the water chemistry and the additional light helps the algae to grow. you might consider adding a second filter or even a larger filter... We are on the tail end of what I consider pond season and the natural lighting is getting less each day... with that said the algae will soon be gone... dave
