nymphoides peltata

Question
hi i was hoping you can help me with the highly invasive plant nymphoides peltata. for the last year i have tried to remove this lilly from a pond. i have tried herbicides and pulling out the root systems, what i would like you to help me with, is there a natrual predator that would feed on it. i know the plant comes from asia. but i cant find any info on any predators. hope you can help me thanks antony

Answer
Hi Antony,
Thank you for your question and I'm sorry I couldn't get to you sooner.  You do have a problme if you have N. peltata.  It is an invasive water plant as you stated.  There is no natural predator that feeds on it that I could find.  Grass carp will not eat it.  It has been controlled by hand pulling and the use of Rodeo?  I researched USDA and several state government websites and there appears little anyone can do about the weed at this time.  I hope this helps.
Tom
