QuestionWe have a pair of Labs who are the main reason we put the pond in our yard. We would like to use water plants to keep the pond clean instead of chemicals. I would like to know if water lilies are safe if the dogs nibble on them? If not, what plants are recommended?
AnswerHi Trayce,
Thanx for your question. I could not find any information that indicates the standard hardy water lilies are toxic for dogs. There are some good water cleaners like water hyacinth and water lettuce. Water lettuce IS toxic to dogs. I could not find any information that indicated that water hyacinth is toxic. I hope this helps.
