QuestionHi, I recently bought a water lily through the mail. I'm doing my best to keep it alive, so I watch it all the time. Some of the leaves have been rotting away. I've read that that will happen...but, these are the new leaves. Should I add algae killer to the water? Also, I saw a thin leg or worm head or something that briefly came out from under one of the leaves. It seems to be gone from the leaves. So, I'm assuming it is living in the roots. Bubbles come up from the soil. I'm wondering if it is a worm or something and if it is going to kill the plant. Help!
AnswerHi Kelly,
Thanx for your question. Don't add any algacide to the water. I don't think algae is the problem. There may be a pest, specific to the plant like a waterlily beetle, midges or something else. Can you look at the plant closer and see if you can find any chewed holes or some evidence that there is a bug eating the plant? Try that and let me know what you find. I hope this helps.
