QuestionI lost 5-6 goldfish early this summer because a couple of Shobunkins just chased them to exhaustion? Were they trying to breed them? My pond is fairly large (9'x6'x3'D), but I don't have much cover yet.
AnswerHi Jerry,
Thanx for your question. Shubunkins are more agressive and fast swimmers. They should not be kept with slower moving goldfish like orandas and fantails. They respond more aggressively than some other goldfish types. I don't think they were trying to breed, I believe their behavior to be territorial and aggressive just because that's who they are. Here's a link you might find helpful. http://madhunag.tripod.com/shubunkin.html
I hope this helps.
