kind of fish

Question
Could you please tell me what other kind of fish can live in my garden pond be side gold fish and koi?I live in lower part of south carolina and it does not freeze that often. Please help. thank you, debbie

Answer
These fish can survive down to freezing:  goldfish, koi, orfe, rosy red and fathead minnows, mosquito fish, native fish (native to your area is best; includes catfish, sunfish, minnows, dace, darters, shiners, and more), roach, tench, rudd, bitterling, most game fish (native fish), etc.

These fish can survive down to about 55-60 degrees F so they might live at least part of the year in your pond:
Common plecostomus, paradise fish, plain guppies, platies, white cloud mountain minnows, zebra danios, Florida flag fish, etc.

See my web site for information on all of those fish at http://www.fishpondinfo.com/pond.htm

Good luck!
Robyn
