QuestionQUESTION: hi there, we have a pond that is not lined, but the water is staying in the unlined
pond!!! We have 5 comets in the pond and I was wondering if we could put 2-3
more in there(even if it isn't lined). We also have 7-8 frogs and 1,000 or so
tadpoles in there and I was wondering if they(the frogs)would stay in there if we
line it! E-mail me back,please!!! Best Wishes,Kaliona L.
ANSWER: How big is the pond? Do you have heavy clay soil on the bottom or rock? During the heat of summer, does the pond still retain water? If not, a liner is a good idea unless the pond is huge. How many fish and other animals that you can put in there depends on how big the pond is. For goldfish, you want 20 to 50 gallons per goldfish in a pond. In aquariums, 10 gallons per goldfish sometimes works, at least while they're babies. In a pond, most comets will grow to about 14 inches long. Frogs will use the pond whether it has a liner or a dirt bottom. Goldfish eat frog eggs and smaller tadpoles so the more fish you have, the fewer tadpoles you'll have. Good luck!

QUESTION: hi there, the pond is pretty big, We have clay at the bottem and the water is
holding in pretty good, I could fit about 7 fish in it and 10 frogs!!! I have
another question, I'm feeding the fish flake food, ut they're not eating it, WHAT
SHOULD I DO??? thanks, kaliona L. Age 10.
AnswerSo, the pond is a few hundred gallons? That's not a large pond but ok for some goldfish and frogs. The fish may be eating algae, plants, and other animals in the pond so they may not be that hungry for fish food flakes. If the goldfish are small, they should eat some goldfish flakes. For large goldfish, I feed pond food which is little balls of food. If they don't want to eat the food, then feed it less often or try another brand. Sometimes fish eat when you're gone. If you leave and come back, is the food still sitting there? It's important not to overfeed the fish.
