QuestionHi there,
I have some questions about waterfall construction, and I was wondering if you would be able to help me answer some questions:
1.How much water does a 1/3 hp submersible pump put through?
2.How is a waterfall measured for open surfaces of running and falling water?
3.How much water should be in the pond for a waterfall to work with a 1/3 hp pump?
4.Is there more evaporation with a small 100 gallon pond versus a 2000 gallon pond if the falls were identical?
5.How much water is needed to be in the pond rock bed for a pond-less waterfall?
I抦 doing some research and any help you can offer me will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much for your time =)
Warmest regards.
AnswerHi there,
1 It does depend on the height of the fall, the pipes diameter, pipe turns and the depth of the pump. Pumps usually come with charts that will indicate that.
2 That depends on the diameter of the pipe+length+ plus turns (the more turns on the pipe, the less water.)
3 It doesn't matter; the width of the fall+ pipe diameter+ height that would indicate how much water you would be getting.
4 Evaporation would occur according to the surface of the pond+ temperature+ wind condition+pump running time.
Please send me your pond measurements+ waterfall height and pump chart. With that information O should be able to give you a more precise answer.
