QuestionWell Robyn the limestone falls are gone, and a new granite falls is in place. it took 3 gallons of sulfuric acid to get the PH down to 8.8 . Still green hopefully once it cools down and kills the algea over the winter next year will be better.
OK. yesterday I was feeding the fish and swimming in the lillies was what looked like a snake about half the diameter of a piece of spagetti and 12 inches long and white, what in the world is this? I grabbed my net but it was gone
AnswerThat must have been a lot of work! It certainly was a lot of acid! Most snakes are much thicker than spaghetti so you probably didn't see a snake. I'm guessing it was maybe a horsehair worm. They are very long and skinny. They have a complex and bizarre life cycle and are parasites of crickets. The adults end up back in the water waiting for a cricket to drink one of their eggs. It could also have been some other sort of worm but few are that big.
