QuestionI have an influx of white-fly,or moth on my plants in my large outside garden fish-pond which holds a large Koi and about twenty goldfish of varying sizes. Can I spray white-oil on the plants,or will the oil effect my fish.I live in the tropics . Failing this method, what would you suggest to erradicate the insects.
Awaiting your advice....Betty J
AnswerHi Betty,
Thanx for your question. I don't recommend spraying white-oil on pond plants. The oil could have an adverse affect on the pond water. White-flies are difficult to control, especially outside. One method of I have seen is to use yellow sticky traps or yellow sticky tape around the infested plants. Some people use blasts of water to remove the insects but they're usually back pretty quickly.
If you will let me know a general area where you are, I can probably put you into contact with local experts who can probably be more helpful to you. I have contacts even outside of the U.S. Let me know and I'll see what I can do.
thx,
Tom
