QuestionTHIS MORNING MY 3 GOLDFISH WERE ATTACKED BY A HERON .2 WERE EATEN BUT 1 SURVIVED .IT HAS BEEN PECKED AND DESCALED .IT IS ALIVE AND BREATHING ,BUT PRETTY MOTIONLESS UNTIL I MOVED IT INTO A BASIN IN MY KITCHEN,WHEN IT KICKED ABOUT.I HAVE PUT POND WATER INTO THE BASIN ALOND WITH A SMALL HANDFUL OF ELODEA.AM I DOING THE RIGHT THING?

Thanx for your question. Basically, yes, this is about all you can do until the fish recovers. What I would do change the water every day so the water is fairly clean and the chances of infection are reduced. There is also a product you can buy at most nurseries that have a watergarden specialty which assists the fish in building up the slime (necessary for them to fight off diseases) on the fish's body. I don't recall the name but if it looks like the fish isn't healing naturally you might want to check into the slime medication. I hope this helps.
