QuestionLeigh - I am on overwelm. I have an Aquascape Ecosystem built in 2003. So for so good. We cleaned it out this spring ourselves. I am doing research on how to keep the water clear and algae free. Here's my summary: I need to add a UV filter. I need to treat water with bacteria, sludge eaters, and barley. Am I on the right track? For the additives it seems the Microbe Lift is highly regarded. Barley I would probably do bales or liquid. UV do I need a clarifier or a sterilizer? Where do you buy your products for the best price? I have about 3300 gal pond with 55' stream and 12X15 pond. I have 18 koi but will probably have to get rid of 4-5 this year due to growth. I live in VA. Trying to give you most necessary input. I appreciate your help. I really don't know who to trust as they all seem to be mainly selling. Warmly -midge
AnswerBacteria hapens naturally, a UV filter I am still not sure of how well they work. If you have had no major problems in the last 2 years why do you think the world is all of a sudden destroy your pond? You appear to have a very adequate system. Unless you have a problem let Mother Nature look after things. Unless your Koi are getting sick leave and enjoy them. In Virginia I would suggest floating plants just to keep the algaie down and give shade to the fish. You could spend a fortune and not get any better results. The Koi are growing and living best results you can have. Save your money, buy a bottle of wine and sit down and enjoy your pond
KEEP PONDING
