QuestionI notice in several answers about algae you suggest building a biological filter. I have a small pond (8x4--14 inches to 30 inches deep) that I put in in July. It gets afternoon sun. I live in NorthWest Indiana. I have a lovely pond grass (the name escapes me at the moment) that has about quadrupled since I bought it and 4 comets about 4 inches long. I do have a couple of fake lily leaves too. I have a pump that is on 24 hours. I was feeding the fish but have stopped the last week or so. Can you send me instructions on how to build my own bio-filter in order to help eliminate the lovely "pea soup" water that I have? It was so pretty and now, well, you get the picture. Thanks!
Answer OK I am going to explain this in text. The biological pond filter is built like this.............Get a suitable container from the the store put your pump in the bottom, cover the pump with lava rock. Put a layer of filter material cotton from a furnace filter another layer of pond peat available from the pond store and top off with lava rock. If you cannot grasp this give me an email address and I will email you a picture.
KEEP PONDING
