Questionhow do you remove the apricot seed from the pit?
AnswerHi Christine,
Thanx for your question. Use a nutcracker and be careful not to damage the "nut" inside the hard seed covering. Soak the seed for a couple days in lukewarm water and then place the seed in a damp paper towel and seal in a plastic baggie. Place in the fridge for about 90 days. This will break the dormancy of the seed so it can germinate. Otherwise, you will have to plant the seed outside in the fall and allow the winter cold to help break the dormancy. The seed will germinate in the spring after the last frost. When cold treating in the fridge, after the 90 days, plant the seed 1/2 in deep in a pot of potting soil and keep warm and damp but not soggy. Germination should occur within 30 days. I hope this helps.
