QuestionAt what age will I know if my persimmon tree started from seeds will bear fruit? Does it have to be a separate sex tree in this type of fruit tree?
AnswerHi Jenny,
Thanx for your question. Purdue University states that persimmons can begin producing fruit as early as 10 years old but the ideal age range is 25-50 years. This is true of pecans and other fruiting and nut trees. Generally, persimmons have male and female trees although a few trees may be bisexual, meaning that both the sexes are on the same tree. More often than not, you will find male trees and female trees separately.
