QuestionI am in zone 7. My mother has 50 year old acer palmatem dissectem bloodred. Could we take cuttings from it? I certainly don't want hurt it, but would love to root it. Thank you
AnswerHi Lillian,
Thanx for your question. I have not been successful in the few times I have attempted to root acer palmatum. Below is a link to some instructions I found that sort of echo what I have tried in the past. It would appear that timing is important. Take your cuttings in the spring as the tree begins to come out of dormancy. You can also propigate by seed.

I hope this helps.
