Question
This is the year where I am the trees are covered in seeds  should I folow your plan now or in the spring , that is your advice re planting the seeds.  It was my thought to just stick the seeds in the ground this fall . How does nature do it . I plan to plant  six acres.

Hi Chamberland,
Thanx for your question.  What type of cedar do are you planning on planting?  Were it me, I would direct seed in a nursery bed outdoors.  Determine the number of trees you want and plant accordingly.  Your local Agriculture Canada office should be able to assist you in 6 acres of reforestation.  I'm positive the Government of Canada has some kind of technical, agricultural and economic assistance for such a project.  Even down here in my state of Kansas, known for its prairies has a Forestry Service where one can buy trees at a huge discout and receive technical and agricultural assistance free.  Another resource is right here on All Experts.  Jim Hyland is our Tree expert.  He has many years of experience with the U.S. Forestry Service.  He may be able to provide you with more information that can I.  Six acres is a lot of trees.  I wish you well and I hope this helps.
