QuestionTwo years ago I went to San Diego and brought back a jacaranda seed pod. Last year I opened it and kept the seeds in a zip-lock bag. Then 4-5 days ago I planted the seeds in jiffy peat pots which I placed in a lit fish tank/terrarium. I keep it lit 24/7 so they stay warm. I planted veggies and morning glories as well. The morning glories are up about 3" now. What are my chances of any jacaranda seeds germinating?
AnswerHi Ruth,
Thanx for your question. I grew some jacaranda from seed and it germinated easily. It is a member of the legume family. I kept seeds for several years and they seemed to be viable for at least 3 or 4 years. They should germinate in 5-10 days if lightly covered with soil and kept damp but not soggy and keep them warm. I hope this helps.
