Repairing a Chinese Pistache tree

Question
A branch on my young seven foot tall Chinese Pistache tree partially broke. I set the broken branch and wrapped it tightly with natural jute twine. That was a little over a month ago.  Today I noticed that the branch was beginning to grow around the twine, but the branch looked perfectly healthy and was sprouting new growth each week.  I thought the branch was mended, so I carefully took the twine off.  Unfortunately, the branch was still broken.  If I re-set the broken branch and re-wrap the branch with the jute twine, would it hurt the tree if I just allow the branch to grow around the twine, and will it repair the break?
I appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Tim

Answer
Hi Tim,
Thanx for your question.  I don't think the twine will hurt the tree at all.  I can go driving down the byways in our state and see hedge apple (Osage Orange) trees growing into fencing and even fencepots.  The trees just seem to be able to incorporate themselves into just about anything from barbed wire fencing to chain link.

You can talk to Jim Hyland our tree expert here on All Experts for better information on trees.  Just go back to Home/Gardening, click on Trees and then click on Trees again and you'll find Jim.  I hope this helps.
Tom
