QuestionWe were in Fort Myers Beach in Florida and a girl was selling bracelets made fom some kind of seed that she picks locally. She said they were green when she picked them but turned hard and light grey in a few days. They are about 3/4 inches in diameter and are almost perfectly spherical, although some have slight irregularities. They are quite light in wieght and have no marking on the outside except a spot on the end where they attached to their tree, somewhat like the pointed end of a hazelnut. We were wondering what kind of plant they come from and if they might be poisonous.
AnswerHi Harold,
Thanx for your question. I checked with my niece, who lives in Florida and she is not familiar with this jewelry. The only thing I can recall is some of the seeds that come of some of the palms that are round like that and when they dry they turn gray and become quite hard but yet light-weight. Without seeing what the seed looks like though, it's impossible to say. I wish I could be of more help. I would suggest that you cnotact the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce and they might be able to help you narrow your search.

I hope this helps.
