Questionwhat is the best way to propagate a staghorn fern??????
AnswerStaghorn ferns produce shoots, which are commonly referred to as "pups". Simply cut the shoots at the base of the fern and transplant them individually into 4" pots filled with peat moss. Staghorns prefer moss over potting soil, so be sure to purchase a high quality peat moss medium recommended for ferns. I always recommend covering the pot with a lightweight clear plastic to retain moisture, and leaving it on for two weeks until the roots establish themselves. This step is up to you. Either way, keep the moss moist, but not drenched. You also need to place the pot in a location where it will get a minimum of 8 hours of dappled light per day.
At this point, you can care for the seedling as you would any other plant. Once the plant begins growing, transplant it to a larger pot.
I hope this helps. Please write again if I can ever provide assistance.
