Growing Bismark Palms from Seeds.

Question
I read your article and it was very informative. I would like additional information about seed preparation.  We have 2 Huge Bismark in our yard and would like to grow from our own seeds.  Can they be planted when they are dropped or do we need to dry them first? Also, Do they need to be cleaned?  Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge?

Answer
Hi Julie,
Thanx for your question.  Yes, wait until the seeds drop to the ground and then clean the pulp off of them.  The seeds can then be planted.  I believe the pulp has an enzyme it is that impedes germination.  You don't need to dry the seed.  I'm adding a link that describes growing palms from seed that I think you will find helpful.  In the cases of palms, the fresher the seed, the better, just make sure it's ripe and you can do that by allowing the fruit to fall off the tree.  I hope this helps.
Tom
