Questionhi, i live in ok and it has been very humid here lately. i had sprouted some mimosa seedlings and it looked like they were doing good but i have had quite a few get to the point of their 2nd set of leaves and for some reason, they begin to wilt, then eventually tip over and die. i have noticed some tiny flies in their moist soil. what am i doing wrong and what could these tiny flies be? they are sometimes in the soil on the inside mimosa seedlings too. please help and thank you
AnswerHi Chris,
Thanx for your question. What you are describing sounds like damping off disease which is a fungal issue. You can take care of this by putting down a thin layer of milled sphagnum moss available at many nurseries. There are also some liquid anti-fungals you can get at the nursery. The milled sphagnum is the best and it will prevent the fungus from killing your seedlings. I hope this helps.
